Authors have analyzed 291 admitted patients in accordance with sex, age, month, department and disease, etc, who had been consulted to our department from Aug. 1975 to Jul. 1976. The results are as follows. (Cases of tracheostomy local anesthesia of laryngotrachea and private patients were not contained here.).
1. Males were more than females giving ratio of 187:104(l. 8 : 1).
2. The commonest age group is 4th decade, 62(21.3%), :and the next is 3rd, 61:(20.9%). The sum of the two is 123 revealing 42.3%.
3. In monthly, the peak is Out., 35(12%), and the next is Jul., 33(11%). There is no specificity in distribution.
4. In interdepartmental distribution, the top is Internal Medicine, 101(34.7%), and the next are Neurosurgery, 83(28.5%), Orthopedic Surgery, 47(16.2%), Pediatrics, 20(7%), and Psychiatry, 12.(4%) in order.
S. The most commonly accounted disease is hearing loss, 56(19.2%), and the next are epistaxis, 46(15.8%), acute tonsillitis, 26(7.6%) in order. But in 22(7.6%/), no pathological findings were found.
6. Operations had been performed in 22(7.6%). The most frequently employed one is tonsillectomy, 7(31.8%), and the next are reduction of the fractured nasal bone (5), operations for paranasal sinusitis(3), middle ear surgery (3), S.M.R. (2), and others(2) in order. In interdepartmental distribution of the patients operated, the top was Neurosurgery, 8(36.4%), and the next was Orthopedic Surgery, 5, Internal Medicine, 4.
7. Laryngotracheal local anesthesia was employed in 57 for performing bronchoscopic and bronchographic examination. 44(77.3%) were in Medical and the remainder 13 were in, Thoracic Surgical department. Tracheostomy had been performed in 55, 44 were in Medical and the remainder 14 were in Pediatric department.
